Ms Harms – Math Class

 

I.                  Expectations

A.    The students are expected to follow the policies outlined in the student handbook.

B.     The students are expected to be prepared for class with a pencil, red pen, book, binder (or notebook and folder), calculator, and homework completed.

C.     The students are expected to follow the classroom rules.

                                                              i.      Show respect for the teacher and fellow students.

                                                           ii.      No candy, gum, food, juice or pop allowed.

                                                         iii.      Always try your best.

 

II.             Help

A.    If a student does not understand something, they should come in for help right away. Waiting until the day of the test is usually too late.

B.     I am available before school and after school and most Fridays. You just need to come and talk to me, and help will be available.

 

III.         Assessment

A.    Daily work – will be given most days. Some class time will be given to work. Homework is due at the beginning of class.

B.     Quizzes – will not be announced. You can expect about 1-3 per chapter

C.     Tests – will be given at the end of each chapter. They will consist of problems from the quizzes and homework and vocabulary from the chapter.

D.    Projects – vary by class and topics

E.     Accelerated Math – each quarter you will need to master 30 objectives. If you complete the 30 each quarter, I will cross of 5 from 4th quarter. For example if you complete 30 each of the 3 quarters, then you will only need to master 15 objectives 4th quarter.

F. Vocabulary - you will have a daily vocabulary quiz. At the end of the quarter you will be given a test over all the words. There is a word wall which is updated every 5 quizzes to help the students study.

G. Grade Slips - each week the students will be given a grade to slip to take home to be signed. It is due by the end of the week for full credit. The students will receive 1/2 credit if handed in after that.

H.     Late Work – a reduction of 10% will occur if handed in the same day or the next morning. You will receive a 50% reduction after that.

G. The final grade will be determined by weighted averages
